Pete Farrow: Tucson Landscape & Barrio Artist

Capturing The Essence of the Old Pueblo.

Peter Farrow is a Tucson-based oil painter whose work focuses on the intersection of architecture, color, and light. Since 2006, he has transitioned from portraiture to the vibrant landscapes of the Desert Southwest. As a member of the Sonoran Plein Aire Painters Society and the Tucson Barrio Painters, Peter spends his weeks painting on-location to capture the “vibrating essence” of the historic Downtown Barrios.

The Practice of Plein Air

Since 2010, Peter has practiced the art of Plein Air painting—the tradition of painting outdoors and on-location. This allows him to capture the immediate ‘vibrating essence’ of the light as it moves across the landscape.

The Aliveness of Place

It’s my desire to convey the aliveness of a place. To capture the vibrating essence that surrounds us. I seek to bring forth the vivid color, character, and play. I wish to invoke a sense of wonder.
